Managing Partner

David is one of the firm's founding partners and has been a practicing attorney for several decades. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Within the following year he qualified as a Certified Public Accountant. He then graduated from Northwestern University School of Law and was admitted early to the Illinois Bar in a private ceremony administered by the then Chief Justice of the Illinois Supreme Court, the Honorable Walter Schaefer. This early admission facilitated his appointment as an Assistant State's Attorney for Cook County, where he wrote and argued appeals before the Illinois Appellate and Supreme Courts and ended his career there trying major criminal felony cases. David has been admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Trial Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Under Governor Richard B. Ogilvie, David served as a Special Agent in Charge in the Illinois Bureau of Investigation and then as an Administrative Law Judge at the Illinois Commerce Commission. Under Governor Dan Walker he was appointed to head a major, multi-million dollar agency. In that capacity he testified in 1974, on behalf of the State of Illinois, before the Subcommittee on Constitutional Rights of the Committee on the Judiciary of the United States Senate, headed by Senator Sam J. Ervin, Jr. He also served in a Governor's cabinet. David was legal counsel to the sheriff's in Cook, Lake and McHenry Counties.

While a prosecutor, David had the opportunity to obtain unique tutoring in medicine by a world famous OB/GYN physician and his staff. This eventually led to his entering the field of civil litigation. He honed his skills by doing personal injury defense work where, eventually, he had the primary responsibility for the defense of major medical malpractice litigation in the Chicago metropolitan area for a prominent, national insurance carrier.

In the late 1970's, David was recruited by one of the most prominent plaintiff's personal injury attorney's in Chicago to try his major cases. In the mid 1980's he was subsequently recruited by another prominent, plaintiff's attorney to try his major medical malpractice cases.

In 1987, David joined with two other very experienced lawyers to form this firm.

For decades now, David has concentrated his practice, representing patients in major medical malpractice and catastrophic injury cases.

He has tried many cases to verdict, including several trials each lasting over two months. He has, to his, and his clients' credit, many multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts. David's jury trials include awards of over $16.3 million, $9 million and several over $6.4 million. His most recent jury trials resulted in a record setting verdict of over $21 million dollars and another for $19.6 million. Settlements include over $16 million, $12 million and numerous amounts of $8 million and less. His most recent, a truck/bicycle accident in the amount of $5 million.

David has been recognized for decades in the original Who's Who in American Law Registry, as one of Chicago's Super Lawyers and is a long time member of the American, Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations, as well as the American and Illinois Trial Lawyer's Association.

In this specialized area of concentration, it is fair to say that David is well known and respected by defense lawyers and insurance carriers for his knowledge, integrity and dogged determination to see a case through to its rightful end.

The hallmark and attitude that David brings to the prosecution of his client's case is to "never sell a case short", but rather to seek the maximum compensation to which his client is entitled.

David feels strongly that excellence in work product, attention to detail, civility in relationships and compassion to his clients, together, inevitably results in the most favorable outcome of the cases he undertakes to handle.

He brings to the table a wealth of medical and trial experience together with the common sense and "street smarts" that help the firm's clients obtain the excellent results for which the firm is known.
